It takes the right people in the right places to make projects happen. At Kent Underlayments, we have the right people in offices across the Midwest, Southeast, and Texas to bring expertise and strength to any project.
Expertise That Delivers
When projects require a strict STC and IIC rating, our leaders know how to deliver. Kent division managers have an advanced level of manufacturer training backed by decades of experience. “Over the years, we’ve seen it all,” said Dave McCauley, who leads Kent’s Southeast team. “When there are challenges on a project, we know how to evaluate and adapt our approach.”
Having experts who understand the nuances between applications matters. “Whether new construction or renovation, we work as advisors and subject matter experts for our customers. It’s important to understand the floor conditions, the substrate, and performance requirements to achieve the STC/IIC requirements set by the owner and architect.” shared Zach Van Bemden. He oversees our West Michigan group, which manages well over 100 new construction and renovation projects per year. Van Bemden is a third-generation Kent team member, having spent decades working in all roles in the business.
National Collaboration
When it comes to developing quality teams, no one does it better than Kent. Division Manager Ed Hardesty manages both Ohio and East Michigan operations. He believes in training and mentoring young professionals to encourage them to grow into industry experts.
Anyone on our team can seamlessly move from one division to another because of our shared training practices. Hardesty explains, “At each level of the project - estimating, project management, operations, and safety, we have high standards for how the work is done. By investing in the training of new crew members, we’re helping them develop strong habits for success, both for themselves and for our customers.”
Kent boasts five underlayments divisions across the country, and collaboration is key to multiplying our success. Division leaders meet weekly to discuss solutions to challenges, review safety leading indicators like job hazard analyses and toolbox talk compliance, and learn from one another. “We’re a team,” shares McCauley. “That means our customers always have access to our vast resources to get a project done. We’ve sent crews from Charlotte to Columbus to deliver on large-scale projects. The advantage at Kent is our ability to shift capacity across the country. We’ll do whatever it takes to make it happen.”
